In a virgin wood, in the shadow of Civita di Bagnoregio, ancient paths wind, recently reopened and trodden by very few people. Starting from the medieval village of San Michele in Teverina, we will face a journey out of time on clay ridges, tuffs and plants that have grown undisturbed for a hundred years. This excursion is not special because the path has been reopened thanks to the goodwill of two boys in love with their land, nor because it overlooks the Valle dei Calanchi and Civita di Bagnoregio. And not even because it ends in the Monaldeschi Tower of Civitella d'Agliano, open exclusively for us, or because in that tower a good aperitif based on typical products at km 0 will await us. This excursion is special because it can tear us away from routine and normal flow of time, giving us a whole day just for ourselves.
Details:
The hike is simple, but has some steep and slightly exposed points. Given the clayey nature of the soil, some points of the route are often muddy and slippery.
